So over the weekend I became ADDICTED to a new service called Friendster.
I'd explain it all here, but it's better if you check it out for yourself. Make sure you know someone who's already signed up to help you get started, or be prepared to recruit some troops. Good lord this site's fun!! I only have 8 signed up friends so far, but I have 24,124 people in my Personal Network (and I've already found another Twin Peaks freak, yay!). The possibilities are endless.
Oh, and I'm doing a seg on the show tomorrow (5/20) on Friendster, because, you know, we're all Friendsters in this big circle of life.
s
Twin Peaks rules. I want to be a midget who talks backwards.
Posted by: steveo at May 19, 2003 02:16 PMcome on, this post has been up for how long and none of the "moralists" have used the line "Friendsters don't steal blogstyles?"
You're slacking, and that's not very moral. I just had all your names tattooed so that I would know who to ask when I wanted to learn how to be a better person and you all are letting me down this quick? Oh, the humanity!!
Posted by: Matt C at May 19, 2003 02:24 PMWhat is it like in Sarah’s world? In a word I would have to say fun. You’re a good kid with a decent rule set, happy about life, no hidden BS, and no extra artificial crap! The only mystery is why you shunned the limelight. On favorite meals I have to agree with cottage cheese. Coming from a true addict, it’s the best. Beware those dreaded sea lice if you have them on your coast. I used to think I was immune. Scratch that. Scratch everything….
Posted by: Ted at May 19, 2003 06:13 PMoh man, the sea lice are the worst...I had friends get so bit up they had to get medical treatment, bites and hives in horrible places...shudder...I once had to stay home from school (in elementary school) for 2 or 3 days, and I spent that entire time either covered in calamine or soaking in those aveeno bath gimmicks. I do not miss sea lice at ALL!
Posted by: Matt C at May 19, 2003 06:20 PMsea lice? Yikes! don't think I have ever heard of them on the West Coast (thank DoC)
Posted by: Vicki at May 19, 2003 07:47 PMoh man, they are just horrible...you can't see them and you only know if they got you when it's too late...

Posted by: Matt C at May 19, 2003 08:38 PMthis friendster thing is a bit overwhelming. it seems like there are quite a few people on it.
but i will check it out. thanks for the heads up.
Posted by: jesse at May 19, 2003 08:42 PMIt's oddly like being in a room full of televangelists and insurance salesmen...Hi! We want to be your friend! And be friends with your friends!
But it's a neat concept...
Posted by: Matt C at May 19, 2003 09:40 PMYou like Twin Peaks????????????? Cool!!! My girlfriend got me hook like a heroin junky to it!!! We had to borrow the whole show from one of her friends so i could see season 2 since we only have season 1 on dvd. Also love the KISS make up!!! Nice to see that i am not the only KISS freak!!!!

Posted by: Mikey at May 19, 2003 10:21 PMI've been using friendster sinced they invented it. I've decided it's pokemon for adults we just go around collecting people. It's addictive which is why I'm sure my work has now blocked it from me :P
Posted by: gnome-girl at May 20, 2003 01:54 PMYeah, I have a feeling the Friendster thing can get out of control fast! Here's the problem I keep having: folks who I truly don't know ask to be my friends, but I'm compelled to reject because Friendster really works better if we aren't all signing up for the exact same 25,000 pool of people. But then I feel bad. I'm sure they're nice people.. but the point is not to "cold call," but to know folks through your/their friends. Anybody having this dilemma?
s
I personally haven't had that problem so far (in the whole hour I've been signed up) - but then I don't get introduced to hundreds of strangers through being on TV every day (might have something to do w/ why you're having the dilemma) ;)
Posted by: Matt H at May 20, 2003 08:17 PMI've found the most compelling bonding mechanisms are voice and eye contact. Without them the internet is pretty lame when it comes to making friends. You can't possibly become friends with your entire viewing audience. it's hard enough just keeping on an even keel with the people you work with although it certainly looks like you're having an easier time (Leo's zire pics). Nice blog.
Posted by: Ted at May 20, 2003 08:41 PMWanna make that 24,125? ;)
Posted by: Sue at May 21, 2003 07:15 AMWoh! Take it easy there killer. Sometimes you just got to let things go.
Sarah, I've really enjoyed your blog. Keep it up.
